History

T.N.Vangs Mek. Verksted was established in an abandoned dairy at Tømte in 1948 by Thomas Vang, the father of the present owner's Nils Vang. The company was run as a personal company until 2004 when it was restructured into a private limited company.

2thumb_Tomte_1961_300_160.jpgIn the beginning, the activity was very much affected by the post-war period - there was shortage of almost everything when it came to materials. But even then, T.N.Vang's was well-known for innovations and smart solutions.

The first machines for sawmills and planing mills were sold long before they were completed and they soon became popular.

The company was also a pioneer in manufacturing equipment for the transport industry. They started with farriery and agricultural equipment. Tractor trailers were one of the products in the early 1950-ies, but soon, the business also developed into flatbeds and trailers.

The first ones were made from used steel form the post-war period and were more than sturdy. They were to be used for moving bulldozers and similar. Currently, we employ so-called high-tensile steel with a yield strength up to 700 N/mm^2 and work intensely to pinch some kilos in order to achieve the lowest own weight possible without compromising the quality.

Later, the manufacturing facilities have been extended in steps in -86, -91, -95, and -98. In total, the company disposes of about 3000 meters square production halls as well as separate halls for sand blasting and paintwork plus offices. After every extension, we believed that we finally had enough room ...now, we have stopped saying it!

In the year 2005, the computer age has entered the production process. Auto-Cad and three dimensional drawing tools are becoming more and more important. With the designs form the constructor as a basis, advanced cutting drawings are prepared. All steel comes in big plates and all the components that are employed in the production process are cut with computer controlled cutting equipment.

In our modern computer controlled cutting board, the steel plates are exploited to the maximum.
